Before I write anything else, I just wanted to give an extra warm and big hug to Zachary and Kaitlyn’s mom Susan for being my first repeat client! I first photographed her family in October 2010 when I was starting out as a portrait photographer. We had a great session in Rittenhouse Square that day, and Zachary and his little sister made some priceless expressions that I am proud to feature on my website. (By the way, Kaitlyn is still queen of awesome faces; she made some great ones this time, too).
So it is a fun challenge when a family returns for another session because you want their photo experience to be as wonderful as it was the first time, but not identical. We had to think of a different location where the kids could run around and that was scenic at the same time. Kelly Drive, along the banks of the Schuylkill (I swear, that should be a required spelling word for Philadelphia school children) River seemed like the perfect place. Not only could Zachary and Kaitlyn ride their scooters up and down the path (frequently being narrowly missed by the endless procession of morning joggers and bikers that I didn’t count on), but an idyllic and iconic Philadelphia backdrop really made for a perfect session. I was especially bowled over when, at the end of almost 2 hours, Zachary invited me to his baseball game that afternoon! I felt loved.
Here are five of my favorite images.
